News from Principal DaCorsi

Good evening Welby Way families,

I hope you are all having a nice weekend and staying dry and safe with the weather.  It is predicted to rain the next few days in a row.  I will keep everyone updated if there are any changes in procedures for school due to the weather.  Our 3rd and 5th grade gate continues to be broken and until it is fixed, 3rd and 5th grade students can enter through the gate on Kittridge next to the storage bin.

Cafeteria Update:  LAUSD has added shrimp to the cafeteria menu that could be served at some point in the school year.   If you have not already, please be sure to inform our school nurse if your child has shell fish allergies so we make sure other food options are offered to your child and help keep everyone safe.

This Week:

POWW Restaurant Night @ Chipotle - This Wednesday POWW is hosting restaurant night at Chipotle on Topanga Canyon in Woodland Hills from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.  Save having to make dinner and have a delicious dinner at Chiptole while supporting our school.  For more details please see the attached flier.

Grams On Sale - Kindness Grams are on sale now on line at Pay4SchoolStuff.com until Wednesday and then on sale in front of school on Thursday and Friday.  Grams will be delivered to classrooms on Feb. 14th.  Help spread the kindness to all. with a gram for the classroom.

Charter Lottery - We will have our 2024 - 25 Charter Lottery on Friday at 10:00 am in the library and via zoom.  You do not need to be present to be accepted and all lottery results will be posted on the Welby Way website by the following week.   This not for magnet acceptance as that is complete via the district.   All official charter lottery and magnet results will be sent out by the district in April.  Lastly, the late charter and magnet application window has reopened for those who are still interested in applying Fall 2024.

Used Book Drive:  POWW is hosting a used book drive starting Monday - Feb. 23rd to help our local Boys and Girls Club build a library for their participating families.   They are asking for preschool - middle school books and a donation bin will be placed in the library and main office to collect donated books.  Thank you for your support with this.

Kindness Week next week -   POWW is in the process of organizing and planning a variety of activities for our students for next week's Kindness week as we promote kindness for all.  I thank them and all who volunteer to help make the activities possible.  More information and specific details to come.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening and remainder of the weekend.   This is all for now.

Your Welby Way Principal,

Mrs. DaCorsi
