Testing positive for COVID: We had several students test positive for COVID prior to the break and just prior to returning. If your child tests positive, please be sure to email both your child's teacher and me to inform us. Also, please be sure to upload the results labeled with your child's first and last name, date of birth, and date of the positive results to your child's daily pass. All positive cases must remain home for 5 days following the day of the positive results and are able to return on the 6th if they are fever free or do not have symptoms. Keeping your child home during this time truly helps to prevent the spread within the classroom and keeps everyone healthy.

iReady Assessment: This week and next all Kinder - 5th grade classes will be continuing with or starting their middle of the year iReady and DIBELS testing in the area of Language Arts and Math. To ensure your child does their best on the test and does not need to make the test up, please be sure your child is in school each day and on time.
The Stand Restaurant Night: This Wednesday POWW is hosting Restaurant Night at The Stand in Woodland Hills on Canoga Avenue from 11 am - 9:00 pm. Save the hassle of making dinner and come out to support Welby Way with a delicious meal as a portion of your meal goes back to supporting Welby Way. Please see the attached flier for more details.
January LSLC/Goveranance Meeting: This Wednesday via zoom we will have our January Governance/LSLC meeting at 3:00 pm to discuss our upcoming charter lottery and begin initial budget planning for the 2024 - 25 school year. All are welcome to join and the agenda is attached with the zoom log in information below.
Spelling Bee: This week and next our 3rd - 5th grade classrooms will be participating in our annual Scripps Spelling Bee to determine the Welby Way finalist. Students will complete various spelling activities within the classroom this week and next to determine classroom finalist and then grade level finalist. Following the grade level the winner will then go onto the Scripps Spelling Bee Competition to represent Welby Way. I wish all of our students the best of luck.
GOT GAME SPORTS: Next week we begin our second session of the After School Enrichment GOT GAMES SPORTS for interested 3rd - 5th grade students. This session will focus on soccer and baseball. There will only be 30 spots available and allotted to the first 30 students who apply. All other students will be placed on the wait list pending space. If you are interested in having your child participate, please complete the link below and please remember this is a Monday - Friday program from 3:00 - 4:30 pm and not for students who want to only participate a day or two. Students must be able to attend all 5 days and for the entire 6 weeks. Registration link is below.

After School Spanish Enrichment Class: This Tuesday after school our Spanish Enrichment class begins for those TK - 5th grade students who signed up and were accepted. You should have received an email from Spanish Class 4 Peques letting you know if your child was accepted or placed on the wait list The class will take place in room 39 starting this Tuesday until May. The class schedule is as follows. TK - 1st - 1:45 - 2:15 pm (TK - 1st grade students will be picked up at their classroom) & 2nd - 5th - 2:30 - 3:15 pm.
Family Math Night: Mark your calendar and be sure to join the fun on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm as Mathnasium comes to Welby Way. They will guide us through an evening of math learning and fun. There will games, learning, and prizes. I hope to see you there.
