Focus on Excellent Attendance - This semester we will continue to focus on excellent attendance for all. I want to ensure your child enters the gate each day prior to the bell and is in line at the time of the bell. This helps to ensure a successful start to each day for the second part of the school year. I will be visiting or reaching out to families along with the district for children who have excessive tardies and absences so that we can assist you in setting positive routines each evening and morning so your child attends school each day and on time.
This Week:
After School Computerwise Coding Class: This Monday and Wednesday, enrolled 3rd and 4th graders will continue their after-school coding class from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the computer lab with 3rd grade participating on Mondays and 4th grade on Wednesdays. There are additional spots available so I will be reaching out to families from the waitlist. Also, the 5th grade VEX classes on Thursday and Friday will continue this week from 3:00 – 4:30 pm until May.
After School Spanish Enrichment – We will begin our new after-school Spanish enrichment class on Tuesday, Jan 16th for all enrolled students. If your child is enrolled or was placed on the waitlist, you should have received an email from the instructor at the beginning of the break.
GOT SPORTS After School Enrichment: Our successful GOT GAME after school sports enrichment will be starting again on Monday, Jan. 22nd. Classes will focus on volleyball and soccer this semester and run Monday – Friday from 3:00 – 4:30 pm for 6 weeks. Enrollment information will be sent out this upcoming week. Enrollment will be limited to the first 30 students who enroll.
School Violence Prevention – This Thursday our 1st – 5th grade students will be participating in a brief presentation regarding keeping our schools safe, establishing a trusted adult on campus, and ways to prevent school violence. I will be presenting to students along with the support of the classroom teachers.
Monthly Fire Drill – On Friday in the afternoon we will have our January monthly fire drill for all staff and students. This is an excellent time to review your at home emergency drill procedures with your family.
Reminder - There will be no school next Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. School will resume on Tuesday.
