News for the Week of December 11-15, 2023

Good evening Welby Way families,

I truly want to thank our amazing Book Fair Crew who spent many long hours and days organizing, setting up, and working our very successful book fair.  We came just short of meeting our $19,000 goal but still did amazing.  I also want to thank the many volunteers who helped support the success of the fundraiser by working the various morning events and sales.  Lastly, I am very proud of our students who submitted their Book Fair poster.  They were all so creative, unique, and impressive.  Excellent work had by all.

Charter Governance/Local School Leadership Council(LSLC):  This Thursday at 3:00 pm will be have our next SSC/LSLC meeting via zoom.  We will be discussing Unified/Charter Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year, our charter lottery, and any charter updates.   All are welcome to attend.

POWW Restaurant Night:  On Thursday our amazing POWW is hosting restaurant night at Mendocino Farms in Woodland Hills from 2:00 pm until closing.  Make your evening less stressful by not making dinner and stop by Mendocino Farms in Woodland Hills to support Welby Way.

Lost and Found. - Our Lost and Found is overflowing with water bottles, lunch boxes, and tons of jackets.  Lost and found will be placed in front of the school all week this week - mornings and evenings too.  Please stop by to retrieve any lost items.  Also, please be sure to label all water bottles and jackets so they can easily be returned to your child.  I truly thank you for your assistance with picking up your child's lost items.  ALL remaining items left as of Friday afternoon, will be bagged up and donated to charity.

Traffic Safety:  For the safety of our children and families, I continue to ask everyone to be respectful and follow the simple parking and traffic laws around our campus especially when picking up and dropping off your child.  Please make sure to slow down, stop at all stop signs, do not make u-turns in the middle of the street or at the stop signs, do not drop your child off in the middle of the street or opposite side of the street, and stay off your phone when dropping off or picking up your child.  Also, please do not park in the red, our neighbors driveway, or in front of their driveway.  This makes our neighbors really upset and will help prevent families from getting a ticket.   If everyone can be respectful and follow the traffic safety rules at all times, we can all work together, and, everyone can remain safe.  Thank you.

Thank you all for your continued support and the gift of your child.  I hope you have a nice remainder of the weekend and evening.  This is all for now.
Your Welby Way Principal,
Mrs. DaCorsi
