I hope you are having enjoyable weekend as we head into another busy week and closer to the annual POWW Monster Bash and Trunk or Treat.
This Week:
Coffee with the Principal: Please join me on Monday morning at 8:30 am in the library as I present the next part of the district’s safety training modules about Suicide Awareness and Prevention. I will be sharing helpful resources on this topic and previewing the student video that will be presented to all Kinder – 5th grade students regarding their emotions.
GOT SPORTS After School Enrichment: We are about to start our new after school sports clinic with GOT SPORTS. An acceptance email was sent to the 30 families along with an email from Coach K with the description of program and procedures for the next six weeks. An email was also sent to families who were placed on the wait list email. As spaces open up you will be emailed.
5th Grade Trip to Lawrence: On Wednesday, our 5th grade classes will be taking buses to Lawrence Middle School to explore the campus and learn about their programs for their gifted magnet.
Monthly Fire Drill: On Wednesday in the afternoon following lunch, we will have our monthly fire drill.
2nd Grade Field Trip: This week our second graders will have their first field trip to Leonis Adobe. 2nd grade magnet will go on Thursday and 2nd grade charter will go on Friday. All students must have a submitted a completed field trip slip to participate.
Magnet & Charter Tours: This week we will continue with our charter and magnet tours at 8:30 am in the library for interested families. Our magnet tour will be on Thursday and Charter on Friday. Please help us spread the word to any interested families who are interested in learning about Welby and applying for fall 2024.
eChoices Window Continues to be Open: The echoices application window continues to be open for charter and magnet applications – Nov. 17th. You will go goto.lausd.net to apply. If your child attends Welby Way as a charter student, you don't live in our area, and have an incoming sibling, don't forget to apply for the Welby Way lottery for the 2024 - 2025 school year during this on time application window. This will allow your child to be placed on the sibling lottery list. Also, if you are applying to the Welby Way magnet or a magnet for middle school you will also apply through eChoices website at goto.lausd.net.
Annual POWW Monster Bash – Can’t wait to see everyone at the annual POWW Monster Bash and Trunk or Treat from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Satruday, Oct. 21st. It is going to be an evening of family fun and goodness. Candy donations are being accepted in the office. More information about the event can be found on the flyers attached and found on the POWW and Welby Way website.
