Message for 5/16

Good evening, Welby Way families.  Here are this week’s reminders:

This Thursday, May 20th, we have our annual Open House, but held virtually this year.  At 5:00 pm on Thursday, please go to, where you will see a live link to our Open House.  Tech support will be standing by if you have trouble linking to your classroom teacher.

Also on Thursday, 5/20 at 4:30 pm, ALL 5th grade students and parents are invited to a MANDATORY meeting where culmination information will be shared.  You will need to join this meeting if you are planning to participate in the in-person culmination ceremonies at the end of the year.  The Zoom Meeting ID for the 5th grade culmination meeting is 843 9979 6329 (passcode: 5thGrade).

Last week, all TK-4th grade families should have received a letter in the mail regarding your plans for next year -whether you will be returning to Welby Way or moving to a different school.  Please be sure to fill out the forms and return to your teacher or the office if you have not done so already.  Thank you.

The Travel Advisory from the LA County of Department of Public Health states that everyone must quarantine for 10 days after travel.  Please refrain from out-of-state travel until after June 11th, especially our hybrid students.  Excellent attendance remains a schoolwide goal, and the expectation is that every student attend school every day.

For the 3rd grade families who missed the OLSAT Parent meeting last Thursday, please go to to access the slide deck with important information.  Please call the office with any questions.

Thank You.

Safety is our first priority, and we would like to remind you of these safety tips, especially if your child walks to and from school:

  • Avoid walking alone and never take a ride with or walk with a stranger.
  • If a stranger approaches or attempts to get the child into a vehicle, they should scream and run for help.
  • Parents and students should maintain good communication about pick-up/drop-off times and locations.
  • Students should immediately report unresolved problems or threats to a school staff member.

Don’t forget that the last day to purchase a 2020-2021 yearbook is May 11th!  Go to for ordering details.

Please check the calendar on for all other event information.
