MOBILE TESTING SCHEDULE:  This week, the Mobile Testing Unit will be at Welby Way on Wednesday, January 26th.   Weekly COVID Testing has been extended for all students and staff members and will continue into February.

IMPORTANT COVID UPDATES were sent by Interim Superintendent Reilly on Saturday morning to all LAUSD families.  The following are important changes to note:
1)    MASKS: All students are now required to wear well-fitting, non-cloth masks of multiple layers with a nose wire.  Masking is required both indoors and outdoors, except while eating.  If your child does not have one at home, one will be provided at your gate.

2)    CONTACT TRACING: Individual contact tracing will be replaced with “group contact tracing,” which means that entire classrooms who shared the same indoor airspace at school for at least 15 consecutive minutes within 24 hours of the positive case will be notified.  We will provide instructions on actions that should be taken.  Please be sure that your email address is current with the school records.

3)    CLOSE CONTACTS:  If your child is currently on Modified Quarantine at school or at-home quarantine due to recent school exposure, he/she may return without symptoms.  Please continue to closely monitor symptoms knowing your child was a close contact.  Any student or staff that develops symptoms, must be 24-hours symptom free and provide a negative PCR test before returning.

4)    HOUSEHOLD CLOSE CONTACTS:  Students with a household member who tests positive must quarantine at home for a minimum of 10 days following the date of the household member’s positive test.  Parents should contact Community Engagement for instructions for quarantining (213-725-5637).  Exemptions apply to vaccinated students and staff and those who are recently recovered from a positive COVID-19 test in the past 90 days.

5)    COVID NOTIFICATIONS:  Families will be sent an email notification if their child’s classroom has had a positive case in the classroom (see #2).  General notifications of positive COVID cases will also be sent via Daily Pass if your child has scanned in that day.  Parents can also visit achieve.lausd.net/covidreportcard for updated numbers on positive COVID cases on campus.

Thank you, Welby Way families, for working together to support a healthy and thriving community even during this most recent COVID-19 surge.  Please continue to communicate with the office and let us know immediately if your child has been exposed to a positive person outside of school.  We will work with you to get your child back in school as soon as possible while ensuring the safety of everyone.

MESSAGE FROM 01.05.2022

This is a reminder that ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF must have a negative baseline COVID test dated January 3, 2022 or later in order to enter campus next week.  You can walk in to any site today or tomorrow to take a PCR COVID test. Testing locations and hours can be found on welbyway.org.

Another option is to pick up a District-provided antigen (RAPID) test for your child on Friday 1/7 and Saturday 1/8 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Grab and Go sites (achieve.lausd.net/covid).   Antigen tests must be administered on January 8, 9, or 10th only.   Take a photo of your child’s name and date of birth on a piece of paper along with the antigen test result.  Upload to dailypass.lausd.net as soon as possible to ensure that results will be verified by the Community Engagement team in time to start school.

If you tested positive with an external test during winter break, you must upload the result to dailypass.lausd.net.  Call the Community Engagement team with any questions (213) 725-5637.

MESSAGE FROM 01.05.2022

I hope this message finds you safe and healthy.  This is Mrs. Kim with important updates for our families.
LAUSD has mandated that all students and staff take a baseline COVID test dated January 3, 2022 or later and show proof of a negative result in order to attend school on campus starting next week.   Please see the email attachment for locations and hours of LAUSD testing sites this week.  In addition, the District is providing COVID-19 antigen tests for students this Friday 1/7 and Saturday 1/8 (8:00 am – 12:00 pm) at any of the Grab & Go sites (achieve.lausd.net/covid).
Families may also upload external PCR or antigen tests, administered January 3, 2022 or later.  Upload them onto the student’s Daily Pass account no later than Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Note that if a student tested positive in the last 90 days, s/he does not have to take a baseline COVID test to return on January 11th. Please upload any external negative or positive COVID test results to dailypass.lausd.net as soon as possible.
Remember, the first day of in-person instruction for students is now Tuesday, January 11th.  Monday, January 10th is a Pupil Free Day (work day for staff only).
