Good evening Welby Way families,
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and all of our wonderful Mothers are being spoiled today as they deserve. Happy Mother's Day to all our amazing Mothers who go out of their way to ensure our children come to school each day prepared to thrive and provide our students with lots of love and support always. Also, many thank yous go out to all our families and POWW for making our Staff Appreciation Week so special this week. All the goodies, kind words, flowers, cards, gift cards, breakfast, lunch, and generosity truly helped to make the week extra special for everyone and is so appreciated. Thank you!!!
This Week:
SBAC Testing: This week we continue SBAC testing for 3rd - 5th grade starting on Monday. Students will take the math portion and then 5th grade will end the week with science. Please be sure all students come to school each day and on time. We aim to officially end testing this Friday and hope to have no make ups. Once again, please be sure your child is in school on time to avoid them having to make up any portions of the test and this way they can do their best within their class. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Author Visit: I am excited to share that on Wednesday published author Adam T. Newman is coming to Welby Way to present to our TK - 2nd grade students. He will be sharing his latest book, talking about the journey of being an author, and the joy of reading. If you would like to order one or all of his books an order form was sent home with your child this last week and I have attached an order form to this email. All orders must be turned in by Wednesday morning. He can even autograph your child's book too if you would like. I know everyone will enjoy the experience of hearing him.
5th Grade Plays: On Friday rooms 19, 25, and 26 will be presenting their 5th grade play within their classrooms. Families will check in at the main office and then proceed to the classroom. Since these performances are in the classroom and during the school day, I ask that parents only participate and no younger or preschool age siblings are permitted to attend. Thank you for your understanding.
Mark Your Calendar for Upcoming Events:
Spring Sing Concert: Kinder, 2nd, and 4th grade families be sure to mark your calendar for April 25th for our wonderful Spring Sing Concert at both 8:15 am and 1:15 pm in the auditorium. It is going to be a wonderful performance.
Memorial Day: On Monday, May 29th will be no school in observance of Memorial Day.
5th Grade Culmination: All 5th Grade families be sure to mark your calendars for 5th Grade culmination which will be on Wednesday, June 7th in the main courtyard area. 8:15 am will be our charter culmination for Mrs. Hoehn & Ms. Medlin's classes and the magnet culmination will follow at 10:15 am for Mrs. Dang, Mrs, Hauser, & Mrs. Lundy's classes. I can't wait to see the students shine as they have grown so much this school year emotionally and physically. I am so proud of them.
Kindergarten Bridging Event: Our kindergarteners will have their Bridging Event to 1st grade on the last day of school, June 9th at 8:30 am in the main courtyard.
Last Day of School: Our last day of school will be Friday, June 9th with minimum day dismissal at 12:30 pm on both June 8th and June 9th. The 2023 - 2024 school year will begin on Tuesday, August 15th.
I thank you all for continued support, dedication to Welby Way, and the gift of your child. Have a good evening and remainder of the weekend. Happy Mother's Day and this is all for now.
Your Welby Way Principal,
Mrs. DaCorsi
