Good evening Welby Way families,
I hope everyone is having an enjoyable 3 day weekend and staying dry and safe. As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. and school will resume on Tuesday with 1:30 pm dismissal.
On Friday your child should have brought home a purple box that is an antigen COVID test. Please take a few minutes on Monday prior to returning to your child returning on Tuesday to administer the test for your child. This is not required but highly recommended to ensure we all return to school negative while thinking positive. If your child tests positive please be sure to email me at sfritzen@lausd.net and your child's teacher so we can assist you with the safe return to school timeline. Also, please remember if your child exhibits flu like symptoms, they must be fever free and not throwing up for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
This Week:
January POWW Meeting: On Tuesday at 8:15 am in the Parent Center will be the January POWW meeting. All are welcome but please be sure to check in at the main office to receive your visitor pass.
4th & 5th Grade Choirs Tryouts: On Thursday from 11:45 am - 12:15 pm, 4th and 5th grade students will be able to audition for spring chorus. All interested students will eat lunch first and then head to the auditorium for auditions. I can't wait to hear all the beautiful voices.
Additional After School Program: Welby Way has the opportunity to bring in an additional after school child care for all grades with the organization Keep Youth Doing Something (KYDS). This program will start on Monday, January 30th and is meant to lower the numbers in our YS program and for families whose children stay after school until at least 4:30 pm or later each day. The district will be funding this program and is not meant for the children who stay after school for short periods of time or for just a couple days a week. More information is to come this week as KYDS will be in front of the school at 2:30 pm on Thursday to hand out more information.
I hope you all have a positive remainder of the weekend. Once again, I thank you all for your continued partnership as we work together to do what is best for our Welby Way students. This is all for now.
Your Welby Way Principal,
Mrs. DaCors
