News for the Week of October 10-14
Posted 10/10/22

COVID Updates:   Parents please remember if your child tests positive to email both Mrs. DaCorsi and your classroom teacher to notify us.  This assists us in ensuring your child follows the safe return to school timeline and all close contacts are quickly identified for their well being.

This week we had only 2 positive case though the children tested positive over the weekend and had no or minor symptoms.  Now the district policy is if your child is a close contact and you receive an email from me as notification your child must test 5 days from last exposure and upload those results to your child's Daily Pass whether they are negative or positive.   This test must be labeled with your child’s first and last name, date of birth, school, labeled POSITIVE or NEGATIVE, and date of the test.

Magnet and Affiliated Charter Application - The window continues to be open for eChoices for charter and magnet applications through Friday, Nov. 18th.   This applies to all 5th grade families that would like to apply to a magnet for your child's middle school experience or attend Hale and it is not your home school.  Also, if your child attends Welby Way as a charter student and you have a younger sibling who you would like to attend in the fall, you must apply to the charter for Fall 2023 in order to receive sibling preference.  If your child's teacher feels that your child would benefit from enrolling in the Welby Way High Achievement/Gifted Magnet, now is the time to apply.  Feel free to contact the office, Mrs. Kearns, or me if you have any questions.

TK Enrollment Age Requirements Updates:

In the 2023–2024 school year, the remaining district schools will offer a child who will have their fifth birthday between September 2 and September 1 will be admitted into a TK program maintained by the school district.

POWW Annual Giving Campaign Popsicle Party - For those classes who had 100% participation in the POWW Annual Giving Campaign, this Friday those classes will be rewarded with a class popsicle party either before or after lunch depending on the grade level.   I truly thank you along with POWW for your contributions being that every dollar goes to our weekly computer program, P.E., classroom supports, ballroom dance, and so much more.  Thank you Mira Felt and the POWW board who worked hard to share the information, answer questions, and encourage families to participate.

School Tours:  This Tuesday from 8:30 - 9:30 am we will have our next magnet tour and Friday from 8:30 - 9:30 am will be our charter tour in the library.  Families will need to register using the link on the Welby Way website and check in at the main office.  Please spread the word to any wonderful families that would like to learn more about applying and attending Welby Way in the fall.

2nd Grade Leonis Adobe Field Trip:  On Thursday and Friday our 2nd classes will be taking a field trip to the Leonis Abode site.  Please be sure that your child has returned their completed field trip slip with all required signatures.    I know the students will enjoy their learning and time there.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the weekend.  Please be well and thank you for your partnership as we work together to do what is best for the Welby Way students.   This is all for now.
