Parking Rules and Reminders
Posted 9/1/22

Thank you to all the families who participated in Back to School Night this week.  It was wonderful to see so many of you coming to learn about your child’s classroom, standards, and expectations.  This truly helps to set the year off on a positive note for everyone especially the students’ success.

Drop Off and Pick Up:   I truly want to thank our families who respectfully model to our children each day how to follow the traffic and crosswalk rules along with interacting together in a positive fashion.   It has come to my attention that there a have a been a few situations each morning at the Callicot and Welby gate where parents have spoken with school staff in an unkind manner or have used inappropriate wording. This truly saddens me as we need to always remember that the behavior and interactions we model for our children, this is what they see as appropriate as how to interact with peers on the yard or in life. Please remember when parking to park along the curb areas that are not red or in front of our neighbors’ driveways. Also, please only use the crosswalk when crossing the street with your children and not cross in the middle of the street.  School staff will not be releasing children to across the street to meet a family member after school.  If we all work to arrive on time or early this helps to ensure street parking is available. I also recommend coming a few minutes after the bell at dismissal when traffic is lighter and it is easier to pick up your child.

Church Parking:  This week I received notice from the church across the street that Welby Way families are not permitted to park in the church parking lot for pick up, drop off, or school events. Their parking lot is private property and not additional parking for our school. I hope we are able to respect this and not use their parking lot in the future.

I thank you all for remembering the importance of working together to do what is safest and best for our children. With everyone works in a respectful and equitable manner, our children can start and end their day successfully.

**Reminder we will have our practice Lock Down Drill in the afternoon today.  During the drill the office will be closed and phones will not be answered as our school and classroom will be in lockdown mode.  I will message families once the drill starts and ends.

I hope you all have an enjoyable and safe 4 day weekend.  As a reminder, there is no school on Friday and Monday.   Be well and have a wonderful day.

Your Welby Way Principal,

Mrs. DaCorsi
