School Closures
Posted 3/19/23

Good evening Welby Way families,

I want to share an important school update with you all.

The union representing District support staff such as custodians, aides, bus drivers, and cafeteria workers – SEIU Local 99 – has announced a three-day strike beginning Tuesday, March 21 to Thursday, March 23. The union representing our teachers and other instructional and mental health staff – United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) – has advised their members to support their SEIU colleagues, which means teachers may not be available to provide classroom instruction.

If the strike moves forward as our labor partners have indicated, Welby Way will most likely be closed to students from March 21 to March 23. Below is information and resources for families should the strike occur and our school is closed to students.

Students may complete either a paper packet that will be emailed to everyone on Monday or activities within their classroom Schoology.

During virtual office hours, families can receive help with accessing Schoology, completing work independently, and technical support with their devices. You may also call our main office for device or password issues.
