A message from WELBY WAY EL Cht Sch

Welby Way families,

We will be having our Halloween Parade  on Monday at 8:15am.  Parents may enter through the front and Callicot north gate to observe the parade. Parents should exit the Peterson gate through the same gates following the parade.  Approved parent volunteers need to be processed and sign in at the front office to participate in classroom activities.  *Attached please find the Halloween parade map for the location of classroom assignments and suggested Halloween safety tips.

Students should come to school with their costume over their clothes, or bring clothes to change into immediately after the parade.  If parents are present they can assist by taking the costume home after the parade.

Please see the information below about District Guidelines around Halloween costumes.

The following guidelines shall apply:

- One of the most important mandates is that costumes shall not be demeaning to any person or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or to any individual
staff or student at the school.

- Costumes must comply with the dress code restriction against images that are “vulgar, sexually suggestive, discriminatory, obscene, libelous, contain threats, or that promote illegal or violent content such as the unlawful use of
weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia” (BUL-6494.0) or cause a significant disruption or distraction to the school program.

- No weapons or replica weapons are to be brought to school.

- Mask may not completely obscure the identity of the student. However, masks may be worn during a parade or other specific activity, provided that safety is not hindered.

- No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard.  Costumes may not impair a student’s vision or movement.

Have a wonderful evening and see at the Trunk or Treat event tomorrow.
